Discussion

A small pit which continues into the section of the trench. The only objects found were a stone pebble and a fragment of charcoal. However, ten canine bones were found in section, and as they appear to be part of the front half of the animal it is likely that this was a dog burial, with the remaining half under the baulk to the south. The pit (?grave) was cut into sand and gravel, and was filled by a sandy silty loam (Munsell 10/YR/43).
