Undefined Feature

Discussion

Probably a natural feature situated just to the east of the modern drain. The heavily burrowed fill was a fine textured loamy sand (Munsell 10YR 3/4), with 5-15% chalk inclusions. A number of finds were recovered (distribution indicating location in map above, as no plan was drawn for this feature). All of the diagnostic finds tend to indicate a relatively modern origin, including snails and a cinder fragment.

However, its location here may be significant, forming a line with a number of other pits (011AB00370 and 011AB00381) and ?natural features (011AB00494, 011AB00496 and 011AB00498) to the east of enclosure ditch 011AB10005 and to the south of the Middle Saxon post in trench structure 011AB10013.
