Pit

Discussion

A pit located just to the north of enclosure ditch 011AB10004. The fill was a sandy clay loam (Munsell 10/YR/43) with 5% chalk inclusions. There were also a number of larger chalk pieces up to 5cm in diameter. The pit was cut into chalk and chalky gravel natural, with a gentle V-profile in the south with a steeper V to the north. Only one find (of non-local stone) and one cattle bone were recovered from the feature.
