Pit

Discussion

A small, shallow pit located just to the south of ?natural feature 011AB00496. No finds were recovered from the fill, a fine textured loamy sand (Munsell 10YR 4/5), which is a slightly more reddy tinge than the fills from the other features in the immediate vicinity. Chalk inclusions occurred predominantly in the eastern half of the pit. The pit was cut into chalk gravel and sand, with an unusual W-shaped profile.
