Pit and 2 Post Holes

Discussion

A small group of a pit and two post holes (situated just to the south-east of the western arm of the proto long barrow 011AB10014) all of which were truncated by the medieval furrow. The post holes contained no finds, and were filled with a light  loamy sand (Munsell 10/YR/44), both being cut into a sandy gravel. It is unlikely that they were associated with the group of post holes to the north and east (011AB07063), although this cannot be ruled out completely. If so, it is difficult to see what structural relevance they may have had. The pit is situated just to the south of the post holes, and contained a flint hammerstone and a number of unassigned potsherds. The fill was darker (Munsell 10/YR/33) than that of the post holes, and may be associated with the proto long barrow.
