Discussion

The pit was initially difficult to define, and the upper part of the fill was erroneously removed under the number 011AB00807, which was also treated as the ditch fill in segment 012AD00854. The pit fill was a sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/4), with 5-10% chalk inclusions.

The pit was cut into sand & gravel, with an undulating profile.
