Pit

Discussion

A small pit located just to the west of enclosure ditch 011AB10004. The pit was filled with a sandy clay loam, a dark (Munsell 10/YR/34) humic fill with <5% chalk inclusions. The pit was cut into chalk natural and had an unusual stepped-U profile. Of the six finds recovered, three were prehistoric flints (2 blades and a flake). Only one animal bone (cattle) was found. Two stone peebles may have been used as pot boilers.
