Discussion

A shovel scraped and trowelled spit at the south-western limit of the hillwash in area 11AE. Unusually, no finds were recovered from the material removed, which was generally a sandy loam (Munsell 10/YR/43). Two further spits (011AE00134 and 011AE00140) were required to fully clean this area, although only a few pits and some animal burrows were eventually uncovered.
