Pit

Discussion

The true limits of the pit were difficult to define due to the amount of animal action nearby. Only 1 sherd of Roman pottery and a number of unidentifiable fragments of animal bone were recovered. The pit was cut into chalk gravel natural, and its irregular profile is almost certainly due to animal burrowing.
