Discussion

A possible hearth in the east of area 11BA, to the east of a possible entrance in the large curvilinear enclosure 011BA07130 and south of ditch 011BA00199. Unfortunately, the information available for this feature is scanty and the nature of the feature is therefore elusive. The feature appears to have been comprised of 65% daub (the record does not show whether the daub was burnt) in a matrix of sandy loam. The feature is unlikely to be a hearth as there is not enough burnt material present and no charcoal appears in the record. Also, the signal strength of the geophysical survey of the feature is weak, indicating little evidence of burning in situ.
