Discussion

A small east/west aligned slot in the west of area 11BA. The slot may be a continuation of slot 011BA00071 to the west. This is one of several similar features in the vicinity immediately to the west of large curvilinear enclosure 011BA07130. Where a relationship was established between the slots and the enclosure ditch (see slots 011BA00049 and 011BA00771), the slots proved to be later. The function of the slots in relation to the enclosure is unclear although they do not seem to progress eastwards into the enclosure area and may therefore be contemporary with at least one phase. They were believed to be some sort of enclosure entrance structure at the time of excavation although a break in the enclosure ditch was not proved at this point.
