Discussion

This was the initial machine stripping of the area. Two areas (011BC00503 and 011BC07232) of buried soil were also investigated. Along with the main area, a 1.5 metre wide trench was excavated to the south, in order to locate two circular anomalies on the geophysical data. No trace of these anomalies were found, either in plan or in section. The area consisted of natural chalk and sand geology. Only the ridge and furrow was clearly visible after the machine clearance, although hints of Grubenhauser and post hole structures were noted.
