Discussion

 A raised hearth structure in area 11BD, within depression 011BD00567. The hearth comprised of a primary layer of clay with some burnt daub (011BD01111) sitting on the base of the depression. A layer of chalk blocks (011BD01139) 4cm to 8cm in size, in a matrix of clay, separated fill 011BD01111 from the upper layer (011BD00569) of mainly burnt daub. This upper layer contained some chalk blocks and two blocks of limestone (19cm x 15cm and 16cm x 10cm), both worked Fill of hearth 011BD00566 (Pre-excavation). The surface of the hearth contains evidence of plough damage.
