Discussion

Originally believed to be a slight widening in ditch 012AD05081, this pit was not recognised until much of the fill had been removed. What remained was a sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR3/3) with 10% chalk inclusions (all less than 2cm in diameter).

The pit was cut into hillwas and into a darker buried soil deposit. It appeared to have a flat-based U profile.
