Pit

Phasing

No diagnostic material was recovered from the feature. As the feature was revealed by cleaning back the section at the northern limit of the site, there are no other stratigraphic relationships. It was located between enclosure ditches 011CE20010 and 011CE20012.

Discussion

This feature was found during the cleaning back the section at the northern limit of area 11CE. The fill was a sandy silty loam (Munsell colour 10YR 3/3). The only finds recovered were fragments of burnt daub, interesting in that they still retained wattle impressions.

The pit was cut into chalk with a V-shaped profile.
