Discussion

This spit was directly under the machine clearance (012AA00001), and was situated in the north-west corner of Area 12AA. Ditches 012AA00200 and 012AA00187 were defined, although only a short segment of each ditch was excavated. A further spit (012AA00254) was necessary to define the ditches to the north.
