Discussion

These numbers were issued late on in the 1995 excavation season and were given 12AB numbers although they were in Area 12AA. This was a machine cut trench in an attempt to find the remnants of an east-west oriented ditch indicated by the high resolution Detail of high resolution geophysics showing elusive magnetic anomalies  geophysics. In the event, no trace of this feature was detected, and this spit was taken down in an attempt to define the surviving prehistoric landscape below the layer of sandy colluvuim. No features were noted down to a depth of 35cm from the top of the hillwash layer. Only 1 fragment of charcoal recovered from this context.
