Pit

Discussion

A shallow sub-circular shaped pit located west of enclosure ditch 012AC00335. The pit was situated right on the boundary between areas 12AD and 12AC. Only a single horse bone was recovered from the fill, a sandy clay loam (Munsell clour 10YR 4/3). Frequent chalk inclusions were noted, although these tended to be nearer the base. There were no other stratigraphic relationships.

The pit was cut into chalk with a roughly U-shaped profile.
