Discussion

This short segment of ditch was located on the eastern edge of the excavated area. It contained no finds. When the spoil heap was removed, it was demonstrated that the ditch had been completely truncated beyond this point to the east. The fill was a sandy clay loam (Munsell 10YR 4/3), with a high (25%) chalk inclusion rate, ranging from 1-10cm in diameter. No daub or charcoal flecking was noted.

The ditch was cut into solid chalk with a U profile.
