Slot
Phasing
The only diagnostic material culture were two late Roman pot sherds. Apart
from being sealed by spit 012AD05012,
the slot had no other stratigraphic relationships.
Discussion
This short narrow slot, located on the western chalk edge of the dry valley,
contained a single fill (012AD05201) , a sandy silty
loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/2), with 5% chalk inclusions. Charcoal flecking
was noted.
The slot was cut into angular chalk, with a U-shaped profile, though
this was somewhat difficult to determine, as the slot had been severely
plough truncated.
