Undefined Feature

Phasing

All of the material culture recovered were later Roman pot sherds (9). The stratigraphic relationship with other features in the vicinity was not established.

Discussion

This feature was difficult to define, located as it was at the junction of four different enclosure ditches (012AD07050, 012AD07210, 012AD07221 and 012AD07223). The fill was a sandy silty loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3) with 10% chalk inclusions. It is possible that this was just a natural shallow depression in the chalk.
