Discussion

A small, almost square spit, which was excavated to define the northern extent of ditch 012AD00511. The material removed was a sandy loam (Munsell 10YR 4/2), with 5% chalk inclusions and no daub or charcoal flecking. This was similar to spit 012AD00560, one of the layers sealing pebble surface 012AD01005 to the west.
