Phasing

The only finds recovered from this pit were two fragments of unidentified animal bone. The feature was sealed by spit 012AD00001, and had no other stratigraphic relationships

Discussion

The single fill was 012AD00630, a sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3), with 30% chalk inclusions (1-6cm in diameter). No daub or charcoal flecking was noted.

The pit was cut into solid chalk, with an irregular profile.
