Discussion

This was an amorphously shaped feature which contained a single fill (012AD00716), a sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3) with up to 20% chalk inclusions (1-5cm in diameter). Some charcoal but no daub flecking was noted.

The pit was cut into solid chalk bedrock with an irregular profile. It had been quite severely plough damaged.
