Slot

Phasing

The only find was a sherd of Roman grey ware. Apart fom being sealed by spit 012AD08070, the slot had no other stratigraphic relationships. It may be connected with a number of similar slots Plan of the later slots  which apparently sub-divide the larger enclosure system.

Discussion

This was a short, slot, located to the west of a number of post holes. The slot contained a single fill, a sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3), with very few chalk inclusions. Daub flecks occurred throughout, but there was no charcoal flecking. The context record indicates that some animal bone was also present (including a horncore).

The slot was cut into hillwash with a U-shaped profile.
