Discussion

The fill was a sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3), with chalk inclusions 5-10% (0.5-1.5cm in diameter). No daub flecking was noted, although much charcoal was observed in the unexcavated segment. This is one of a number of features which have the same alignment Click here to see a colour coded plan of the different alignments of features, following the line of the dry valley in a NNW-SSE orientation.

The slot was cut into hillwash, with a U-shaped profile.
