Discussion

The feature was un unusual curvilinear slot, beginning with an east-west alignment in the north, before curving rounf to the south. The fill was a sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3), with chalk inclusions of 5%. A little daub and charcoal flecking was noted. The majority of the animal bones recovered were cattle bones (50%), with sheep/goat making up a further 35% of the total.

The slot was cut into hillwash with a U-shaped profile.
