Oven Base?

Phasing

The feature remained unexcavated, although it was cut by two post holes of the group 012AD07263.

Discussion

This was a predominantly burnt daub feature (possibly the remains of an oven base), although fragments of pink and white chalk were also visible. No finds were recovered from the feature, as it was not excavated (merely cleaned during the excavation of the post holes) although both charcoal and burnt sandstone were noted during this process. As can be seen from the plan above, there were two areas which were particularly evident on the ground, with an area of slightly less dense material between them.
