Discussion
As the machine stripping is the removal of the ploughsoil, this context
is subsequently above all other features, so no matrix diagram is displayed
for
this entry.
After the removal of the ploughsoil, which was very shallow (varying
from 15 to 30 cm) in this area, no further cleaning was necessary, as all
of the features were clearly visible cut into the natural chalk. The area
was substantially plough-damaged, particulary in the east. A layer of hillwash
was visible
in the centre of the area, into which part of a post hole structure and
the boundary ditches were cut. Only 8 objects were
lifted under this number, all of them coming from the area of surviving
hillwash. No animal bones were found.
