Discussion

A short slot cut by ditch Master 012AE00084. The slot was cut into the angular white chalk natural with a regular U-shaped profile. Only small (unidentified) animal bone fragments were recovered, along with a small fragment of slag. The slot was longidutinally sectioned in order to test for the presence of post or stake holes, but no evidence for either was found. Even though iron panning was noted on the eastern side of the slot, this feature was not very clearly defined in the geophysics.
