PIT

Discussion

A sub-rectangular pit cut into the angular chalk natural. The base of the pit was very irregular. The pit was located just to the west of linear feature 012AE00004. It contained small fragments of bone, some of which were burnt or calcined, only one of which could be identified by species. The bone was found predominantly in the south-eastern quadrant of the pit. Flecks of daub were noted throughout the fill, but no charcoal. Two distinct fills were noted, the primary fill containing large angular chalk fragments.
