Discussion

An exceptionally plough-truncated ditch cut into hillwash. Only 4 objects (3 of them 4th Century Romano-British pot sherds) and 1 animal bone were recovered. They were all found towards the eastern end of the ditch. It is quite likely that this is one of a sequence of recuts of enclosure ditch Master 012AE00084, although we are probably only seeing the very bottom of the plough damaged ditch. The recuts (or cleanings) were needed here because only at this point was the ditch cut into hillwash, and thus was more prone to collapse.
