Discussion

This was one of two spits (with 012AA00119) in the extreme south-western part of Area 12AA, excavated in an attempt to find the a north-south oriented ditch indicated by the high resolution Detail of high resolution geophysics showing elusive magnetic anomalies  geophysics. This proved unsuccessful, and no further work was carried out in this area. There were no finds from this spit, which was directly below the machine clearance (012AA00001).
