Pit

Discussion

An isolated pit (apart from post hole 002CA00232 just to the north), cut into angular chalk and chalk sandy gravel. The pit was initially defined by a group of small burnt bones located centrally in upper fill of the pit. The lower fill contained larger bones, some of them unburnt, all either cattle or sheep/goat. Also found were Anglian potsherds, as well as an intrusive medieval sherd.
