Undefined Feature

Phasing

This possible feature contained a prehistoric flint flake, a sherd of Romano-British pottery and a Medieval green-glazed sherd. Apart from being sealed by spit 002CB00002, the feature had no other stratigraphic relationships.

Discussion

This was initially believed to a small sub-rectangular pit. However, when excavated it proved to be only between 2-4cm deep. The excavator believed that it may have been non-archaeological in origin, possibly the result of access to the chalk quarry to the south-east.
