Pit
Phasing
The feature contained no finds. Apart from being sealed by spit 002CB00001,
the feature had no other stratigraphic relationships.
Discussion
Although classified as a pit, the excavator believed that this may have
been just an animal burrow. However, the regularity of the
profile indicates that this could have been a real feature. The fill
was a sandy silty loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3), with 30% chalk inclusions.
The pit was cut into gravel, with a flat-based U profile.
