Pit

Phasing

The feature contained no finds. Apart from being sealed by spit 002CB00250, the feature had no other stratigraphic relationships.

Discussion

The excavator was unsure as to whether the feature was the ploughed-out remains of a pit, or just a shallow natural feature. It was filled with a sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 3/4), with over 505 chalk inclusions, some large and angular.

The feature was cut into chalk, with a concave profile.
