Phasing

No diagnostic material culture was recovered from this pit. Apart from being sealed by spit 002CB00250 and cutting into the buried soil 002CB00890, the pit had no other stratigraphic relationships.

Discussion

This shallow pit was located centrally in the area. Its single fill was a sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3), with 5% chalk inclusions. The only finds were two cattle bones and part of a horse scapula, all found near the surface.

The pit was cut into buried soil 002CB00890, with a wide U profile.
