Pit

Phasing

The pit contained a single find of pottery. This was classified as possibly Neolithic in the field, although not phased as such by the specialist.

Discussion

A small round pit to the north of post hole structure 002CB00370 in the north of area 2CB. The eastern half was initially excavated in 1982, in the extension to trench 2M. The western half was subsequently excavated in 1987, as part of area 2CB. The fill was a loamy sand (Munsell colour 10YR 3/4). As the only finds were retrieved during the 1982 excavation, the animal bone was treated as an object.
