Gully

Phasing

Discussion

A ditch/gully in the east of area 2DA, revealed by the removal of the baulk between areas 2CA and 2DA. This feature is possibly the part of a ring gully and was believed to be of prehistoric date during excavation. The west end is a possible terminal as it rises sharply to ground level, the east end appears to have been machined away. The fill contained patches of manganese staining especially at the west end, but these patches were also evident in the central area.
