Discussion

A small truncated area of burnt material under medieval headland material and to the east of north/south medieval gullies (master 002DB07045). Over 20% of the fill comprised of burnt fragments of red chalk. Soft grey/white chalk occurred in patches and there was charcoal flecking throughout. A very shallow feature (less than 1.5cm deep), it may have been the remnants of a fire or hearth structure or a dump of burnt material. No cut number was issued and no finds were recovered.
