This was a small patch of charcoal (Munsell colour 7.5 YR 2.5/2), lying directly on the natural chalk gravel, revealed by the removal of spit 002DC00030. It did not appear to sit in any discernible cut, and had no other stratigraphic relationships. There were no finds.
