Discussion
This was a shovel-scraped spit in the centre of area 12AB, excavated to
define the complex sequence of enclosures known to exist from the geophysical
survey data. Animal bone was present in quite high densities. The plan
above shows the spit extending in a narrow rectangle to the south. In fact,
these were finds from spit 012AC00002,
although they were incorrectly numbered in the field. Of particular note
was the find of a copper alloy trumpet brooch (Collingwood type Rii).
