Pit

Discussion

A small pit found after secondary machine cleaning in the central eastern part of 11AB. One of a pair with 011AB00907 to the north. The pit contained a large amount of charcoal flecks (giving the fill a Munsell colour 10/YR/31). A high quantity of large local flint and chalk fragments were noted (almost no small gravel inclusions). The only find was a fragment of fired clay, which corresponds with the fragments of unfired clay found in the pit to the north. The pit was cut into the heavily burrowed loamy sand.
