Pit

Discussion

A small pit found after secondary machine cleaning in the central eastern part of 11AB. One of a pair with 011AB00905 to the south. The pit contained a large amount of charcoal flecks (giving the fill a Munsell colour ranging from 75/YR/32 to 10/YR/32). A high quantity of large local flint and chalk fragments were noted (almost no small gravel inclusions). The only find was some unfired clay, which corresponds with the single find of fired clay from the pit to the south. The pit was cut into the heavily burrowed loamy sand.
