Pit

Discussion

The removal of spit 012AF00152 revealed a pit and two other possible features. The pit (012AF00158) was located immediately to the north of the entrance into the late Roman structure 012AF07215, and contained small fragments of burnt bone and charcoal. The pit was not fully excavated. The second feature was a possible pit (012AF00153), containing two sherds of late Roman pottery(indicated on the plan above), as well as oyster shells (not lifted). The third feature was a possible terrace wall (012AF00154), located to the north of 012AF00153. Associated with the possible wall were three Roman pot sherds. Due to time constraints at the end of the 1995 season, no further excavation was carried out in this area.
