Pit

Phasing

Although the context record states that two worked flints and some burnt material were present, these are not represented in the object record. The feature (with similar feature 002CB02622) was located in a small machine trench removing plough soil. Apart from being sealed by buried soil 002CB00890, the feature had no other stratigraphic relationships.

Discussion

The feature was revealed during the machining of the buried plough soil, ad as such was box sectioned. The fill was a sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 3/4), with very few chalk inclusions. Some burnt patches of material were present, although the feature had suffered much animal burrowing.
