Pit

Phasing

Although the context record states that worked flints and some ?Neolithic pot sherds were present, these are not represented in the object record. The feature (with similar feature 002CB02606) was located in a small machine trench removing a buried plough soil. Apart from being sealed by buried soil 002CB02580, the feature had no other stratigraphic relationships.

Discussion

The feature was revealed during the machining of the buried plough soil.  The fill was a silty sand (Munsell colour 10YR 3/4), with less than 5% chalk inclusions.
