Discussion

This was one of a number of trenches initially excavated in 1982, in an attempt to locate the Anglian settlement associated with the cemetery to the north. This trench (2M) was successful in finding two complete post hole structures (002M 00500 and 002M 00502) and the eastern end of a third (002CB00370), as well as a Grubenhaus (002M 00501). A further cleaning spit (002M 00002) was all that was required to define the features.
