Pit
Phasing
The pit contained no diagnostic material culture. Apart from being sealed
by spit 011BA00001, the feature had no
other stratigraphic relationships.
Discussion
This was a small, shallow pit, located in the western part of area 11BA,
where plough truncation had eliminated any other features. The single fill
(011BA00130) was a sandy clay (Munsell
colour 10YR 4/3), with few chalk inclusions. The only finds were animal
bones, all of which were found on the surface.
The feature was cut into chalk, with a V-shaped profile. It had been
disturbed by an animal burrow in the south-west, and was plough truncated.
